Nancy Bass Padgett Census 1850

In all of my research, mainly in older versions of the Bass Family Record, there have been no records of Nancy Padgett [Bass] born around 1813 to Wilson Bennett Bass born 1785. There are three named children listed for Wilson Bennett Bass in almost every record I’ve found. Two boys, Bennett Bridges and William Riley Bass, and one girl, Nancy Bass. Both boys have rather extensive listings of descendants but the records for Nancy were limited to her husband “Bill Padgett”.

Just recently I discovered a copy of the 1850 US Census for Covington County Alabama with the names of William Padgett and Nancy listed at the bottom, they were the last two names on the page. I’d seen this page before. However, in this case I had access to the next page, and the first three names were Jane Padgett 12 F, Henry 5 M, and Viney 3 F. Since then I’ve found evidence of two other daughters Elizabeth and Nancy through their being listed as Siblings of Jane and “Viney” Levinta in obituaries and grave records.

I won’t carry on about it anymore but I’m excited about the potential of this. -Posted in 2016 wen found.

Since 2016 I’ve expanded this family from no known children to a dozen or more pages of descendants starting with five children and thirteen grandchildren. Still have a lot of work to do on this line, but it’s been fun researching, and even talking to, some of these new cousins.
